I want that one!

It’s wild how we can spend our whole lives wishing we were “the one.”
The one who gets picked.
The one someone finally sees.
The one who gets called by name and not overlooked in the lineup of life.

We all carry that quiet ache for acceptance, that longing to be chosen. And when we finally are, it feels like sunlight breaking through clouds. But sometimes the one doing the choosing is not good for us, and we end up in a different kind of pain… a different kind of captivity.

But here’s the shift: God chose you long before anyone had the chance to reject you.

Before you had a name.
Before you could fail.
Before you could run.
Before you even knew He existed.

He looked at the timeline of your life and said,
“I want that one.”

Not the popular one.
Not the polished one.
Not the one everyone else celebrated.
He wanted the one no one else even noticed.

And He’s been saying it from the very beginning.

📔Scripture woven into the story of His choosing

  • When others passed you by, God did what He did for David in 1 Samuel 16:7 — He looked past what people see and chose the heart He Himself shaped.

  • When life discarded you or left you wounded, He walked by — like in Ezekiel 16:6 — and said, “Live.”

  • When you felt like you didn’t belong anywhere, Isaiah 43:1 declared over you, “I have called you by name; you are Mine.”

  • When you thought choosing God made you worthy, Jesus whispered in John 15:16,
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you.”

  • Even before your mother knew she was pregnant, Jeremiah 1:5 says God had already set you apart.

  • And when you felt like the outsider, the forgotten one, the one who didn’t fit… God showed up as the Shepherd who leaves ninety-nine just to chase down one (Luke 15:4).
    You WERE that one.

  • Every time people said you didn’t matter, God answered with Hosea 2:23:
    “You ARE My people.”

✨ This is the truth you need today

You are wanted.
You are known.
You are seen.
You are chosen on purpose! Not by accident, not by default, not because He “had to”… but because He wanted you.

When you whisper, “Can anybody see me?” He says, “I see you.”

When you wonder, “Am I enough?” He says, “You are Mine.”

When you ask, “Who would ever choose someone like me?” He answers… through His Word, His Spirit, His heartbeat…
“I want that one.”

And that one… is You.
