You Said “Use Me”… Now What?
It’s interesting how we’ve spent years singing songs that require action…but when it’s time to actually take that action, we hesitate.
It was song that we used to sing that said…
“Use me, Lord…To show someone the way…
My storage is empty, and I am available to You.”
Those weren’t just lyrics.
They were declarations.
But were we truly prepared for what that meant?
There was a time when songs like this filled churches, choirs singing boldly, hands lifted, voices unified. We sang with passion… yet many of us didn’t fully understand what we were committing to. Because being “used by God” isn’t just a feeling. It’s a requirement to move.
So why is it that after years of singing these words, when the moment comes to live them out… we shrink back?
It reminds me of James 1:23–24:
“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror… and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
We sing. We declare. We agree. But when action is required… we forget. When we are called to begin to do, serve, talk, love, etc. \\
I find myself in that very place. I know what I’ve sung. I know what I’ve said. I know the prayers I’ve prayed. And now, the moment has come where I believe God is responding to those very words… and if I’m honest, it feels inconvenient.
But then I think about Daniel 10:12, Daniel humbled himself. He fasted, and he sought God intentionally. He set himself to hear from God and God heard him. And heaven responded.
The angel came because of his words. So I have to ask myself… Is it possible that God responds to us the same way?
When we pray, when we humble ourselves, when we say that we are available. Should we really be surprised when God answers…by calling us to act? And what if…
“Those very instructions are the answer to our prayers?”
What if obeying God and doing what he asks us to do will result in the very prayers that we have prayed being answered? God gives grace to the humble. But humility isn’t just what we say…it’s what we do.
So let’s stop acting like we didn’t sing the songs.
Let’s stop pretending we didn’t pray those prayers.
Let’s stop being shocked when God answers… in the form of instruction.
Instead…Let’s become doers of the very words we have said.
Love Endures All… Even Here… Even Now..
